A randomised, double blind, placebo controlled trial measured the effect of NCFM and Bi-07 on immunity in 326 children aged between 3-5 years old in day care. There was a significant reduction in the incidence and the number of sick days (Figure One) in children taking NCFM and Bi-07. The daily probiotic supplementation also reduced the use of antibiotics as well as days missed from school and day care. The study showed that the combination of NCFM and Bi-07 worked better than NCFM alone.
  • A review of eight randomised controlled trials, with 988 infants up to 36 months of age supports the use of LGG in the treatment of acute diarrhoea, by significantly reducing the duration of diarrhoea. In one of the RCT's, evidence showed LGG to effectively reduce diarrhoea from six days to three days in 100 children aged between 3 and 36 months of age.
  • If children have been taking a course of antibiotics, Flora Care for Kids may assist in maintaining the levels of normal healthy flora that may have been disrupted: A randomised trial of 202 children aged 6 months to 10 years, measured the effectiveness of LGG alongside a 10 day course of antibiotics compared to placebo. In children taking LGG, there was a reduced incidence and duration of Antibiotic Associated Diarrhoea.
